AVG2011 is a very good antivirus program.  It’s easy to use and, it doesn’t slow your computer down when it’s scanning.   AVG2011 automatically updates itself, and you can schedule it to run whenever it’s convenient. AVG runs in the background offering users real-time protection against all types of malware. This download is for the free version.  There is also a paid version for people that want a little more protection.

Malwarebytes is an excellent anti-malware program that removes even advanced malware and spyware.  It performs fast and effective scans.  Every computer user should have a copy of this software on their desktop.  When you open Malwarebytes, make sure you click on the update tab at the top before you perform a scan. The free version has to be updated and run manually by the user.  It does not perform scheduled scans.  It’s good to use if something suspicious pops ups or your PC starts acting weird.

Superantispyware is another good program to keep on your desktop.  It performs scans without slowing down system performance and does a good job removing all types of spyware.  It has to be updated and run manually by the user.  It does not perform scheduled scans.  It is a good stand alone tool. 

I also recommend keeping the following two programs on your desktop to use occasionally or whenever you see something suspicious.
