Another customer came in today that was called by hackers pretending to be with Microsoft.\u00a0 He let them remote into his computer.\u00a0 They used the same old, your computer is infected and needs to be scanned, story.\u00a0 They placed a fake scanner on his screen that showed his computer contained malware. This is just an easy scare tactic to get you to pay them for virus removal that you don\u2019t need.\u00a0\"Fake<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally they showed him the price for this scam.\u00a0 See photos.\u00a0 When the customer refused to pay the hacker, he got pushy and mean.\u00a0 Never allow anyone you don\u2019t know to remote into your PC and remember that no legitimate company will ever call and ask to remote into your computer.<\/p>\n

This old scam refuses to die.\u00a0 In fact, it seems to be getting more and more widespread which just goes to show it must be making these criminals a lot of money.<\/p>\n

There are plenty of legitimate companies that do remote malware removal but none of them would ever call you to tell you that your PC is infected.\u00a0 You would have to call them.\u00a0 Also, depending on the severity of your malware infection, it would be best to take your PC to a local computer repair shop and let them remove it for you.<\/p>\n
