Then click on \u201cview.\u201d\u00a0 Remove the check mark from \u201cauto arrange icons.\u201d Now arrange your icons the way you want them.\u00a0 When you restart your computer, your icons will stay the way you arranged them.<\/p>\n<p>Also, if you notice a desktop icon goes missing, and the icon wasn\u2019t deleted or moved from the desktop\u00a0by you, then right click on an empty spot on the desktop. Then click on \u201crefresh.\u201d This will usually make the icon show up again. If this doesn\u2019t work, right click on the desktop<a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerfixx.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Computer-Desktop-Icons-Refresh-Screen.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-363\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-363\" src=\"http:\/\/www.computerfixx.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Computer-Desktop-Icons-Refresh-Screen.jpg\" alt=\"Computer Desktop Icons Refresh Screen\" width=\"254\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a> and select \u201cview.\u201d Put a checkmark in the \u201cauto arrange icons,\u201d then uncheck the \u201cauto arrange icons\u201d and move your icons back where you want them to be. \u00a0The missing icon should now show up on the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes desktop icons seem to vanish because your desktop is too crowed and the icons overlap so you can\u2019t see them all. Clean up your desktop by deleting short cut icons that you aren\u2019t using, so that your icons don\u2019t overlap.<\/p>\n<p>You can also create a folder on the desktop and name it \u201cunused icons.\u201d Then drag and drop the icons you don\u2019t use very often into this folder.
