Zeus Trojan Still Going Strong

computer · August 6, 2015 ·

Zeuse Trojan Malware Red Circle Blog 2 CompressedI’m still finding computers with the Zeus Trojan on them. This malware was first seen about 6 years ago. There have been many variations since then and it’s still going strong. When it was first found, it only infected Windows computers but now versions of it have been written for Apple computers as well. Your computer gets infected with this malware in several different ways including emails that tell you there is some problem with an online account or links in Facebook news feeds that go to the hackers websites.

It’s infected millions of computers since it was created and most of them have been in the U.S. Once Zeus is on your PC it stays dormant until you log into your bank website and then it steals your passwords and takes money from your bank accounts. According to the New York Times, some versions of this malware can replace a bank’s website with its own page in order to steal even more information like a person’s social security number.

This malware has been around for so long because it’s been a very effective way for hackers to steal your bank account information.
